We are currently developing new Kansas Landscape Architect continuing education. Make sure that you check back often for new courses. These courses will cover the following topics:

  • Pond Design, Management & Maintenance - Our course will help you properly design, maintain and manage your pond to minimize water quality problems while maximizing aesthetics and function. Starting with design, you'll learn how to build a pond, including recommended water depths, volume and flushing relationships, shoreline shape, integration of aquascaping benches, and optimal design of outlet structures.
  • Landscape Lighting - This course covers topics such as amps, ohms and volts, as well as design and installation of wired and wireless systems.
  • Irrigation Systems - Learn how to design and install irrigation systems through practical and inexpensive techniques that gauge important physical site features into the equation.
  • Pest Management of Landscape Turf - Weeds, diseases and insects are ready to pounce on weak turf, turning it into an eyesore. In this course, you’ll learn how to effectively diagnose and treat insect, disease, and weed problems in turf.
  • Turfgrass Disease Management - This course will cover how to identify and control turf diseases such as Brown Patch, Summer Patch, Dollar Spot, Fairy Ring, Pythium Blight and many others. This will cover new products and controls, including the most current information regarding cultural, chemical, and biological techniques.
    These are the current requirements for renewing your Kansas Landscape Architects license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.

  • To renew your Landscape Architect License in the state of Kansas, you are required to complete 30 professional development hours (PDH) of continuing education every 2 years.
  • Landscape Architect Licenses expire on June 30th every 2 years. A licensee may carry over a maximum of 30 excess PDH units to the next renewal cycle.
  • Professional development hours must improve, maintain, or expand technical professional skills and knowledge beyond the skills obtained before initial licensure or develops new and relevant technical and professional skills and knowledge.
  • Licensees are not to submit their continuing education verification to the Board unless they are audited. Licensees will need to maintain a record of continuing education completion for a minimum of 4 years.
